A small family-run bakery at the foot of the Alps, Dolce Idea, has won BEST PANETTONE in Piemonte year after year. In 2018 they won 2nd best panettone in all of Italy. My friend Lisa and I did a live streaming on Facebook at this bakery to show you a bit of the work they do. They use a 100 year old starter yeast that was passed down to Elio from a master Panettone maker in Valle d'Aosta and the process of baking this sweet holiday bread takes 3 days! It was seriously the best panettone I have ever tasted. It can stay fresh and perfect up to 2 months and very good even up to 5-6 months. It is great with some of the pistachio or zabaione cream on top too!
